National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

CAMBRIDGE – Annually, September 30th is recognized throughout Canada as the National Day for Truth and ReconciliationThis day honours the children who never returned home and the Survivors of Canada’s Residential School systems. It is also a day for the public to recognize the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools as part of a national commitment to reconciliation.

September 30th is also Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led grassroots day intended to raise awareness of residential schools’ individual, family, and community inter-generational impacts and promote the concept of “Every Child Matters.”
