Over 50 officials participated in the camp that was run in conjunction with the OJHL Combine
Cambridge, ON – Close to 100 people applied to be apart of this unique opportunity. Based on the evaluation and prospecting of OHA staff, 50 of these applicants were chosen to participate in the camp.
The OJHL PLAYER Combine was also taking place. The event provided an opportunity for its member teams to identify prospects/future talent. The OHA Officiating Camp worked in conjunction with the event providing officiating support while at the same time exposing OHA camp participants to high-end Junior hockey.
“Reflecting back on the experience, we are very grateful for the participants who dedicated their time to showcase their officiating skills, and for the OJHL who afforded us the opportunity to bring back a modified version of the entry camp we ran over 10 years ago,” said OHA Officiating Supervisor Chris Ferreira who organized the event. “I’m very excited for the opportunity to continue to grow this event, to grow the relationship between the OHA and our Hockey Canada member partners, and to continue to provide opportunities to those officials who are ready and interested in joining the OHA.”
Next steps – over the course of the next month or so decisions will be made on which camp attendees will be called up to the OHA next season. For any attendees the OHA decides to bring into the mix, the OHA will pay for their 2024-2025 registration!
