CAMBRIDGE, Ont. – this is a virtual/work-at-home opportunity. Reporting directly to the General Manager of Operations, Marketing, and Communications, the candidate will be responsible for managing the entire scope of the OHA’s internal and external communications. This position will collaborate closely with all members of the OHA staff, the OHA board of directors, OHA member teams, and all four (4) OHA leagues (Senior – ACH, Junior A – OJHL, Junior B – GOJHL, Junior C – PJHL).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all features of the OHA website, as well as the various OHA social media platforms, including but not limited to:
- Writing and posting news articles;
- Uploading files and images;
- Coordinating both external and internal content
- Demonstrate initiative by keeping current on emerging social media, trends, and platforms to further enhance OHA visibility and online presence
- Leverage relevant statistical tools, including Google Analytics to ensure all communication initiatives and outcomes are on target in achieving required goals and objectives.
- Develop a comprehensive communication plan for OHA implementation and execution that is inclusive of a master activity calendar.
- Oversee the development and production of all OHA print and online materials, including but not limited to the OHA Annual Report, Awards Presentation booklet, AGM Delegate materials, and Event programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Enrolled in Public Relations, Communications, Sport Administration, or something similar
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Active listening, processing, translation of information and interpretive skills to ensure messaging both internal and external are well articulated and irrefutable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong knowledge of web content best practices, management systems, and social media platforms.
- Confidence in taking the lead with minimal supervision.
About the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA):
The OHA was founded on November 27, 1890 and is the governing body for the majority of Junior and Senior hockey in the Province of Ontario and has a total of 110 member teams. The OHA is a Member Partner of the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) which is one of thirteen Provincial and Regional Branches of Hockey Canada.
Over the years, the OHA has been a leader in program development, safety initiatives, and game enhancement. Proud of its history, the OHA strives to provide Canada’s national game to competitive junior players, aged 16-20 and through its AAA Senior Program, the Allan Cup League.
