Cambridge, ON – the OHA is deeply saddened by the loss of Al Dawe. All was a long time referee with the OHA.
Big Al had a peaceful passing, following a brief illness at Southlake Health Centre, Newmarket on Friday, January 16 2026, in his 80th year.
Big Al was the loving and steadfast husband of Karey Dawe with whom he shared 54 wonderful years filled with love and laughter. Big Al was a loving father to Korey Doner (Darren), Tamara Lowe (Richard) and a very proud Papa to his 5 grandchildren Jordan, Dawson, Tyson, Sydney and Carter.
Big Al was the eldest of three boys, leaving behind his beloved brother Brian (Noreen “Bean”). He is predeceased by his youngest brother William “Bill”. Big Al will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and the friends he considered family.
Visitation will be held at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home Sunday, January 25 from 10 am-12 pm. Funeral service in the Chapel at 12 pm, with reception following.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Big Al’s memory may be made to the Newmarket Heath Center where “his girl” Karey resides.
