Mr. Nobbs was involved with the Norwich Merchants (PJHL) for over 50 years

Cambridge, ON – the Ontario Hockey Association is saddened today to announce the passing of Randy Nobbs.
Randy Nobbs passed away at the age of 66 and was affectionately known as Mr. Merchants. He dedicated 6 seasons to playing with the Merchants, starting in 1974, and transitioned to an executive role in 1980 after concluding his playing career. Nobbs ascended to the position of President of the club in 1982, a role he maintained for 29 years, and he continued to serve as a director until his death.
Nobbs was also significantly involved in Norwich, where he coached and umpired Norwich Minor Baseball, participated actively with the Legion, and was always willing to assist others. He received accolades from the Government of Canada for his contributions to the community, from the Township of Norwich for his service, and from Oxford County for his dedication to sport and recreation. Nobbs was inducted into the Norwich Merchants Wall of Fame and was recognized by the Norwich Chamber of Commerce in 2023 as the Citizen of the Year.
